A Road Safety Wales information leaflet and poster have been updated to make road users aware of the five main causes of road traffic collisions and injuries in Wales.
The bilingual leaflet covers the following:
Don’t Drink/Drug Drive - Don’t risk being one of the 100,000 drink or drug drivers caught each year, or you could face a minimum 12 month ban, a large fine, a criminal record or even imprisonment.

Many parents may be confused by the news that booster cushion regulations may change soon.
Susan Storch, Chair of Road Safety Wales, explains the current situation: "Any changes will only apply to new backless booster seats (booster cushions) entering the market, not ones which are already in use and meet existing safety standards."
“Parents, carers and professionals working with children, who currently use a booster cushion that complies with the existing regulations will not be breaking the law if they continue to use them after the rule change. You will not be required to buy a replacement booster seat to meet this change.”

A young man who took part in a council-run Pass Plus Cymru course has been congratulated after winning a prize draw.
Ben Read, from Llandegla, was randomly selected from drivers across Wales who had recently taken part in Pass Plus Cymru, to win the course’s quarterly draw.
The course is available to drivers aged 17 to 25 who live in Wales, and is designed to help young drivers become safer on the roads.

DVSA has published a new video about how compulsory basic training (CBT) works on YouTube. The short video is designed for learner riders.
The GOV.UK guide about how CBT works has also been updated in the last few months, and it now gives better information about preparing for CBT, what to take to the course, and how to make a complaint about a course.
If you are thinking about taking up motorcycling for the first time or are returning to motorcycling after a break, there is all the information you need about licences, the types of machines you can ride and appropriate clothing on the Wales by Bike website. Experienced motorcyclists will also find information on routes, tips and training opportunities across Wales.

When Winter Bites...
At this time of year, a single journey may take us into very different weather and different road and traffic conditions, so drivers need to be prepared.
Working in partnership with Highways England, Road Safety Wales has produced a series of posters to remind drivers to be prepared, to plan around the weather, and to check forecasts for the latest information.

Just over three months after a campaign to highlight dangerous driving was launched, North Wales Police are renewing their message for people to submit video and photographic evidence of motoring offences.
Following the launch of Operation Snap or #OpSnap, numerous film clips and photographs have already been received from members of the public. 58 offences have so far been processed – ranging from driving without due care and attention, failing to comply with a red traffic signal and failing to comply with solid white line.
Operation Snap was launched in October 2016, in response to the ever increasing submissions of video and photographic evidence from people who have witnessed driving offences on the roads of North Wales.

The unsung heroes guiding Vale youngsters safely across our roads twice a day have been given the recognition they deserve.
At the recent Vale Road Safety Awards, an annual event held at the Council’s Dock Offices, those working on school crossing patrols throughout the county were recognised and rewarded for their contribution to road safety.
The co-ordinators and volunteers of the Kerbcraft Child Pedestrian Training Scheme were also thanked during this year’s presentation.
