Five Drug Driving Arrests in One Evening
Police Officers in Newport have made five arrests in just one evening by using a roadside device called a 'DrugWipe'.
It can test a saliva sample for drugs like Cannabis and Cocaine within as little as 8 minutes.
A positive test is indicated by the appearance of red lines on the device, similar to a pregnancy test.
On the 24th of May 2016 through until the early hours of the morning, Gwent Police officers made the following arrests:
28 year old male arrested for drug driving through Lliswerry.
21 year old male arrested for drug driving through St Julians.

The Home Office estimates as many as 200 people a year are killed by drivers impaired by drugs.
The DrugWipe device is a big step towards bringing more drug driving criminals to justice, helping to save lives.
Those who get behind the wheel whilst under the influence of drugs not only put their own lives and passengers at risk, but also those of innocent pedestrians and other motorists.
