Consultation for roads changing from 20mph to 30mph
Isle of Anglesey County Council is consulting with the public on proposals for changing certain roads that are currently 20mph back to 30mph.
The consultation runs from Friday 23 May until Friday 13 June 2025.
Your feedback on 20mph limit on Anglesey
Welsh Government announced their plans for reviewing 20mph speed limits on 23 April 2024. Isle of Anglesey County Council accepted public suggestions on which roads should:
- change from 20mph to 30mph
- change from 30mph to 20mph#
- stay at 20mph
What happens next
Streets and roads where 30mph were not suitable under the revised guidance will remain at the default speed limit of 20mph. The council has produced a traffic regulation order (TRO) proposal for any street or road where the revised guidance suggests a 30mph speed limit could be suitable.
This is a legal process that must be followed when there is a change a speed limit.
Have your say
From Friday 23 May until Friday 13 June 2025, residents can show support or raise objections. Final decisions will be made on any speed limit changes as part of the council’s normal decision-making processes, following the TRO consultations. Further updates will be provided once the TRO consultation has ended.
