The Vale of Glamorgan Council is asking residents, businesses and local organisations to help shape the future of walking, wheeling and cycling across the county.
As part of its duties under the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013, the Council is reviewing and updating the Vale's Active Travel Network Map (ATNM), which identifies existing and future routes for walking, wheeling and cycling. The review aims to create a connected network that makes walking, wheeling and cycling the most natural choice for everyday local journeys, helping to improve health and wellbeing, reduce reliance on cars, cut air pollution and make our towns and villages more liveable places.
The updated map includes:
• Existing Routes that already meet Welsh Government standards for walking, wheeling and cycling.
• Future Routes that are proposed for development or improvement to meet required standards in the future.
Following an earlier public consultation, feedback has been reviewed and used to prepare a revised map, which is now subject to a 12-week statutory consultation running from 22 June to 14 September 2026.
